Black founders are the fastest growing class of entrepreneurs in the United States. In fact, in 2021 the number of Black businesses increased 38% over just the year before.
Black Tech Week serves tech professionals and enthusiasts, funders, allies, and all members of the global Black tech community.
Black Tech Week is scheduled to coincide with the Cincinnati Music Festival. The festival, one of the oldest and largest in the country, hosts 70,000+ visitors and generates 107 million dollars in economic impact.
Founded by Felecia Hatcher and Derick Pearson in Miami in 2016, Black Tech Week has been a beacon for Black technology professionals for years. Each year thousands of people, from many different industries, backgrounds, and experience levels gather together to learn, fellowship, and find "home".
Black Tech Week's primary purpose is to foster connection and in doing so, move us all forward, collectively.
In 2022, Lightship Foundation has taken the next step. Lightship acquired Black Tech Week and is making it bigger and better than ever. More sessions, more keynotes, more jobs placed, and more FUN! We are partnered with the Cincinnati Music Festival to fuse Black Tech and Black Music for an unforgettable, city-wide experience.
